Daio Yama (Big ?? Mtn) and Yone Yama (Rice Grain Mtn)
This is a large network of trails which start about 3 miles from the monzen gate. You could easily spend a few days or longer exploring this area. There are a lot of trails, but they tend to be overgrown in some places (so use the GPS!). There are also lots of picturesque shrines, mountain streams, a few waterfalls, and many bamboo forests. During the late summer you can often see inoshishi, the Japanese wild boars. These trails connect to the Kintai Castle trails to the north and to another set of trails to the south toward Yuu. To get there, go out the monzen gate and take this route.
Daoi Mountain has some spots where it gets overgrown and it may be hard to see where the trail goes. If you keep going in the right direction, you will usually rejoin the trail within 50 meters. There is one spot next to the radio reflector (big white panel) where it is difficult to see where the trail goes. Go around the right side along the fence surrounding the radio reflector and then continue straight the same direction you were originally going. After 5 meters, the trail will be clearly visible again.
There are more trails that are not shown on the map, but I omitted trails that were too overgrown to hike easily. Zoom in and pan on this map to get a better view. It shows the full route from Kintai Castle to Daioyama and Yoneyama.
